Strength training puts a huge demand on your body, so if you’re doing it frequently you’ll want to incorporate some rest and recovery strategies. I’ve teamed up with Dr SALTS+ to look into how and why of recovering from strength training, so you might want to read on if you’ve had a tough workout today!
This is an advertorial in partnership with Dr SALTS+, but all opinion and research is mine.
You’re a runner, so surely pounding on your legs for miles a week constitutes as strength training, right? Nuh-uh, afraid not! Strength training for endurance athletes can help prevent injury, correct imbalances, and can enhance your movement economy plus there are also studies that show strength training can improve time-trial performances and even your VO2 max, so there’s definite benefits to adding in specific strength work to your training. You guys, I actually cannot believe this: my wonderful cat has landed his first campaign. My little Henning, an influencer! I am super excited to bring you this post today in partnership with Whiskas (yes, he’s gone big for his first partnership) – just for transparency, this post was written by me, although he is of course the star of the show, along with Whiskas cat casseroles.
I often call Henning my emotional support cat and although I pretend it’s in jest, in reality it’s the truth, and there are scientific reasons why. I wanted to look into the science of why owning cats is so good for us humans and I came across a whole wealth of reasons, my favourites of which are below. Definitely all excellent reasons to treat your wonderful cat with Whiskas!
This post is in conjunction with WHISKAS® but all thoughts are my own (and Henning's - he's mad for these casseroles, honestly)
Ever heard of aerial hoop? If you’re like me and enjoy finding new ways to move your body, then you’re going to LOVE this!
I tried aerial arts with a group of PT clients and friends as we were looking for something new to do, but the question I kept getting before our session was “what IS it?!” Honestly having never tried it before I wasn’t exactly sure, I just knew it looked fun! Really it’s an art form, but if it involves moving your body, having fun, and learning something new, then I’m 100% there. Read on to find out what aerial hoop is, what the benefits are, and how you can try it out.
This past weekend I spent a brilliant few days in Ibiza Town, and although this wasn’t my first visit to the island it was my first visit eating a mainly plant-based diet so was an awesome opportunity to eat my way through all the vegan food in the city.
Everywhere has at least one decent vegan option (as in, not just a plate of chips!) and almost everywhere has soya milk, too, but I did my research and found the best places for vegan, plant-based food in Ibiza Town. I’d say it was a tough job but it really wasn’t – it was delicious! Read on to find out my favourite vegan restaurants for every meal.
Picture the scene: it’s 2003. You’re in the pinkest teenagers’ bedroom you’ve ever seen (seriously, there are pink walls, a pink carpet, and pink bedlinen), the only colour variation being the bright yellow TV/VHS combination, upon which a crackly yoga class is playing. View Post
